Early years foundation framework EYFS
When caring for children up to the 31st of August after their fifth birthday you must meet the requirements of the EYFS framework. These are the standards that any childcare provider must meet in order to support the learning and development when caring for children up to the ages of 5. All Messy Jessy's staff members will read through the framework and ideally have experience within it. We will work in partnership with parents and teachers to promote goals in relevance to the age and needs of each child. Positive relationships and a safe environment also massively contribute to children being able to learn and grow. The seven areas of learning are always on offer for the children within the setting in different ways through learning opportunities, activities and resources, these are;
⦁    Communication and language
⦁    Physical development
⦁    Personal, social and emotional development
⦁    Literacy
⦁    Mathematics
⦁    Understanding the world
⦁    Expressive arts and design

British values
At Messy Jessy's we strive to promote the following British values through a variety of different ways, reasons being "The plan for education is to ensure children become valuable and fully rounded members of society who treat others with respect and tolerance, regardless of background. This ensures young people understand the importance of respect and leave school fully prepared for life in modern Britain".
Democracy;
All children are constantly encouraged to make their own decisions and choices throughout their time with us. This is through different activities and choices they have on offer throughout their time. Children are able to choose their routine and staff members are to bounce off of the children's ideas. We strongly believe that everyone has a voice and that all opinions, thoughts and feelings are valid and respected.
The rule of law;
Children are talked through and reminded of specific rules in place whilst being at Messy Jessy's and the importance behind them in order to keep everybody safe. Children are encouraged to share their knowledge and always be involved, including creating their own rules they deem necessary and important.  Every child is different and so different children may benefit from different ways of handling; however, we try to remain consistent in the way we deal with good and bad behavior.
Individual liberty;
We help to promote this British value by exposing children to a variety of different varied experiences weekly giving them the chance to exercise their personal freedom and rights. Children are encouraged to essentially "do what they want" within a safe and controlled environment that does not affect themselves or others in a negative way.
Mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs;
Something of the upmost importance is to respect others no matter what and appreciate one another's differences. Children are exposed to different views, cultures, religions through celebrating different cultural celebrations throughout the year. We aim to promote diversity through our resources and co research and encourage the children to talk through their differences and problem solve as independently as possible.

Safeguarding
All staff members at Messy Jessy's have a responsibility to ensure the welfare and safety of all children within our care at all times and to protect and prevent these children from any form of harm or abuse. All staff will work together to do this and be trained regularly on the Messy Jessy's policies and procedures, what to do in event of a child welfare incident and who to report these concerns to. The owner of Messy Jessy's is the lead designated safeguarding officer, and all concerns should be reported to them. They are trained on safeguarding and experienced in the signs, symptoms and how to respond to these correctly after years of training and experience within the childcare industry. Training will continue annually for staff, and they will follow the local authority Wokingham borough council child protection procedures if any concerns arise. Any concerns will be reported to them. This will also be disclosed to Ofsted immediately including any measures that have been taken in regard to this matter. A security camera will be on view of the room at all times to protect both children from abuse and staff members from abuse accusations. Parents are able to request to view these images at an appropriate time in the event of a concern they may have. Cameras and phones are not any point permitted to be used within the bathroom.
We deem it very important to build good relationships with children and parents in order for them to feel open enough to talk to us regarding any concerns they may have. Children will be able to express themselves and taken seriously in all cases with their feelings and thoughts being valued at all times. Confidentiality will be kept at all times in order to build that trust between children and/or parents unless concerns in regard to their welfare arise. This will always be prioritized, and appropriate agencies will be contacted in order to protect children at all times. The Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) is a partnership between Wokingham Borough Council, NHS Health Services, Thames Valley Police and the Probation Service working together and sharing information to safeguard children and young people. Any suspicions of abuse will be appropriately reported and dealt with. Messy Jessy's is a very intimate setting, and all staff members are known and trusted personally, reducing the risk of internal abuse within the setting as all staff are carefully selected. All selected staff will also have to maintain a valid DBS before and throughout working with children in the setting. No mobile phones are permitted within the setting, and this applies to both parents and staff. Only the Messy Jessy's phone will be used and only for internal matters such as staying in contact with parents and occasionally sharing their child's experiences. Any abuse of confidentially from staff or parents will be issued with a formal warning and potentially reported to other authorities dependent on the context of the situation. Any inappropriate allegations will immediately reported to our LADO (Local authority designated officer). Parents are usually the first point of contact after receiving a disclosure from a child unless we believe this will put the child in danger. Any disclosure will be recorded and filed and then after collecting all of the evidence a decision will be made on the next steps to take. Each staff member will complete a safeguarding training course with flick training to ensure they understand the signs and symptoms of different types of abuse and how to appropriately respond to these.

Complaints
If for any reason a parent or staff member is not happy with any aspect of the childcare provided, they should first express their thoughts either orally or via email to the manager. Our aim is to make arrangements as quickly as possible whereby all parties are content with the outcome and any issues or concerns are to be resolved within house. If the problem then arises again or you are still dissatisfied with a certain aspect of what we provide you should then formally put in writing your exact concerns stating names, times, locations and any other relevant information. This will then be filed as a formal complaint, investigated and stored in our complaints logbook alongside any action taken and outcomes concluded. If still you are not happy with an aspect of this childcare and a conclusion cannot be amicably met, then legal action may be sought to mediate a meeting between parent/staff and manager. Minutes will be taken, signed by both parties and all logged accordingly. This will be the final stage of in-house complaints, if you are still not satisfied, we advise to report your concerns to Ofsted.
Parents or staff members are able to get in touch with Ofsted directly to report a complaint if they deem it necessary. Ofsted will then either carry out an immediate inspection or ask us (the provider) to take action or work with other agencies to look at any issues. You will not be contacted by Ofsted with the outcome.
